We Require
One year of experience as a medical assistant, performing front and back-office medical assistant duties, including phlebotomy, patient vitals, EKGs, venipuncture, and experience with electronic health records
Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion from an accredited healthcare training program
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from the American Medical Technologists
High school diploma or GED
Job Contributions
Responds to and directs clinical calls effectively and professionally in-person, telephonically, and online
Conducts office duties, including copying, filing, scanning, scheduling, and document preparation
Verifies dental, behavioral, and medical health information with outside healthcare organizations
Prepares meeting agendas and presentation materials; takes and transcribes meeting minutes and prepares summaries for distribution.
Orders and maintains an inventory of supplies and processes invoices.
Performs duties within the medical assistant scope of practice, under the direct supervision of a physician, mid-level provider, or Nurse Manager to ensure quality patient care
Completes required documentation in the electronic health record or other modality
Maintains confidentiality of all information in all communication and interactions
Working Conditions
Work is performed inside a jail and requires accurately handling a high volume of work, communicating with a culturally diverse patient population, and adapting to frequent changes, interruptions, and unscheduled tasks
Must be able to stand, walk, get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, lift patients on a gurney, and bend for extended periods of time throughout the work shift
Position includes day or night shift work, which may include weekends and holidays
Travel or floating to various clinical locations is required within a 5-mile radius
Must be able to respond to emergencies and maintain CPR certification
Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access
