As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment services to help patients develop, regain, and enhance the skills necessary for daily living, self-care, and participation in meaningful activities. In this role, you will work with a diverse pediatric population, from birth through approximately 22 years of age, supporting children and young adults in achieving greater independence and quality of life.
You will provide specialized therapeutic interventions for patients with neurological conditions, developmental delays, genetic and congenital disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and complex communication needs requiring augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supports. Your focus will be on maximizing functional outcomes, promoting skill development, and empowering patients to reach their full potential in home, school, and community environments.
This position also includes providing hand therapy services, making it an excellent opportunity for a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or an Occupational Therapist interested in pursuing CHT certification. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering patient-centered care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and helping children and families achieve meaningful and lasting progress.
A PRN caregiver in this position works varying hours. This role will focus on afternoon/evening hours starting between 1:30pm and 3:30pm and treating until 6:30pm depending on the day: M,T,W, F. Floating opportunities (when needed).
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.
Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed.
Seek consultation as necessary.
Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and OT practice standards.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience in a clinical area
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
