Saint Alphonsus is seeking an Associate Chief Nursing Officer to lead Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario, a 49-bed, acute care, not-for-profit hospital, that has provided care in eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho for more than 100 years.
Position Purpose
The Associate CNO serves as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership to advance the mission of Saint Alphonsus Medical Center. This role oversees nursing and clinical support operations, ensuring high standards of practice, patient care, and clinical compliance. Additionally, the position supports the President and Chief Nursing Officer in driving service‑line growth and improving clinical, financial, and stakeholder outcomes.
What You Will Do
- Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, advancing the medical center’s mission through strategic and operational leadership.
- Provide executive oversight of nursing and clinical support operations, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Lead the development and execution of the nursing strategic plan, monitoring performance and driving improvement across service lines.
- Oversee daily operations of inpatient, outpatient, and clinical support teams, ensuring safe staffing and effective resource stewardship.
- Participate in the Administrator‑on‑Call rotation and serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors and key committees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Oregon RN license required.
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Master’s Degree in Nursing or Health Administration or Business preferred.
- 5 years of demonstrated nursing leadership skills such as team building, performance improvement, communications, systems thinking, negotiation, multitasking, leading interdisciplinary teams, and financial and program management required.
