Enrolled Nurse – Townsville Recovery Services Centre (AOD) | Permanent Part‑Time

Employment Type: Part-time | 30.4 hours per week

Roster: 24/7 rotating roster

Shift Times:

  • Morning: 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Afternoon: 3:00pm – 11:30pm

Location: Garbutt, Townsville

About the Opportunity

The Salvation Army is a leading provider of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services across Australia, offering withdrawal management, rehabilitation, and harm‑reduction programs. As an Enrolled Nurse at the Townsville Recovery Services Centre, you will play an important role in supporting participants through the withdrawal process.

 Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide person‑centred clinical care and help ensure each individual receives the support they need during a challenging stage of their recovery.

What the Role Involves

You will deliver specialised AOD withdrawal care aligned with evidence‑based guidelines and The Salvation Army’s values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting nursing assessments, monitoring, and interventions in line with:
    • Queensland Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
    • Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
    • Recovery Services Policy & Procedures
    • TSA policies and values
  • Working with on‑site and visiting medical officers to support safe withdrawal management
  • Administering, dispensing, and documenting medications
  • Managing client admissions, orientation, and discharge processes
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and handovers
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and best‑practice service delivery
  • Supporting a culturally safe, trauma‑informed, recovery‑focused environment

What You Will Bring

You will bring clinical capability, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to care. Essential requirements include:

  • Enrolled Nurse qualification with current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum two years’ relevant nursing experience, ideally including mental health or AOD
  • Knowledge of withdrawal management guidelines and clinical best practice
  • Blue Card (mandatory for Townsville & Mount Isa)
  • Driver’s licence (preferred)
  • Strong triage, assessment, decision‑making, and crisis‑response skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals experiencing complex or challenging behaviours
