New graduate nurse or other nurse transitioning to different level of care will function under the RN job description of the unit with the oversight of the preceptor and educator. The residency is considered a form of orientation and while independence and autonomy are encouraged; to assure patient safety, the preceptor or educator will determine the amount of supervision required during the progression to full independence.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care based on defined patient care plan, patient care policies and standards of care, and knowledge of the Nursing Process.
- Gathers data for the Nursing Process.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with care deliver standards.
- Provides safe patient care per facility/department RN job description within the achieved competencies of the residency.
- Seeks clarification prior to performing skills if uncertain.
- Participates in learning activities provided.
- Seek to understand the theory supporting learning activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate’s degree in nursing
Skills: Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.

License: Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio or Michigan based on facility of hire

Physical Demands: Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, blood, and bodily fluids. Must be able to occasionally and with assistance lift, move or carry very heavy weight materials, equipment, or patients.
