Job Description
North Hennepin Community College is seeking applications for unlimited full-time Nursing instructors within the School of Nursing and Allied Health Professions. NHCC is committed to excellence in teaching and learning as we educate the next generation of nurses. Faculty members collaborate in delivering nursing courses to prepare students to complete their Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and to take the national nursing licensure exam, NCLEX-RN.
Instructor Responsibilities:
Teach lecture, lab, or clinical course(s) to a diverse student population using innovative and engaging active learning strategies.
Develop and/or edit instructional materials.
Assessment of student performance by multiple methods.instructional lab/equipment when assigned to lab courses.
Utilize campus technology to maintain professional skills & connect with faculty, staff & students.
Collaborate with colleagues and students to promote success in the Nursing Program.
Actively participate in department meetings.
Salary Range:
Salary is commensurate with education and experience and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement. Entry-level range is $51,303 - $94,542 for a nine-month academic year, plus excellent benefits.
Full-time, unlimited faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits, including health insurance (95% employer paid single premium or 90% employer paid family premium); life insurance; optional dental, short-and long-term disability and long-term care insurance; paid personal and sick leave; defined benefits and defined contribution (401(a) retirement plans); tuition waiver for employees and dependents; and optional 457 and 403(b) retirement savings plans.
Under the collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF), new faculty to the system receive a salary placement based on education and related experience after accepting a job offer. The maximum salary at hire is $94,542 per academic year, depending on education and experience. Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or
Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education.
A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
Other Requirement: Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.
Preferred Qualification
Masters, DNP or Ph.D. in Nursing.
Experience teaching college level nursing including theory, lab, and clinical.
Proven commitment to student success and program completion
Experience with learner outcomes assessment and evaluation.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and evidence of a strong and clear understanding and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community colleges and their students, faculty, staff, administrators, and communities they serve.
Working knowledge of instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, learning management systems (D2L Brightspace), digital technology, etc.
Collaborative team player who is dedicated to student success and the success of Nursing Program
Experience serving diverse and historically under-served populations.
Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
