A Brief Overview
Develops, oversees, and conducts fit-testing for all MLH facilities/departments annually and as needed to meet OSHA requirements. Ensures compliance with OSHA's respiratory protection standards by providing education, testing and medical evaluations to identified Associates. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.


What you will do

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA’s respiratory protection standards by providing education, testing and medical evaluations to identified Associates. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment issues necessary for fit-testing.
  • Performs fit-testing for all MLH associates after clinical evaluation has been completed and approved. Coordinates and performs physical set up at all facilities and designs schedules to meet each facilities needs. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the respiratory protection program for all MLH facilities.
  • Provides project management support for MLH facility committees and education.
  • Maintains fit-testing data- base for for system-wide PAPR training. Enters and analyze data and provides reports to demonstrate regulatory compliance with OSHA as needed or required.
  • Conducts appropriate assessments and ensures adherence to regulatory guidelines for Joint Commission, OSHA, NIOSH, and Respiratory Protection Program standards.
  • Collaborates with IPC, Occupational Health, HR, Safety, and clinical uits to ensure comprehensive program delivery.
  • Assists with program reporting, quality assessment, and program improvement initiatives.


Education/Formal Training Requirements

  • Required - Bachelor's Degree Nursing


Work Experience Requirements

  • Required - Healthcare or medical office environment 3-5 years
  • Preferred - Respiratory care


Licenses and Certifications Requirements

  • Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of OSHA Respiratory Protection Standards.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to apply problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgement, set priorities and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently.


Supervision Provided by this Position

  • There are no “direct” supervision. Responsible for all associates needing fit testing and works with their leaders to ensure compliance.


Physical Demands

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • Travel to other facilities to provide Associate Health services.
