The Cath Lab Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients across various acute care units. As a Float Pool RN, you will be a valued member of our team, bringing flexibility, adaptability, and specialized clinical skills to support units where your expertise is needed most.

Your Everyday 

Take the lead: prioritizing, coordinating, and delegating all care touchpoints for your patients. 

Explain procedure to patient and family as appropriate. 

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and work alongside physicians to ensure excellent patient care and outcomes. 

Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone. 

Monitor and engage with your patients, families, and appropriate care team members concerning significant events, patient condition changes, or patient questions and concerns. 

Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care. requirements. 

Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient. 

Advise and consult with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely. 

Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services. 

Contribute to the team by assisting others without being asked.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nursing care across a variety of acute care units.
  • Rapidly assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Demonstrate clinical adaptability when transitioning between specialties and patient populations.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, promoting best practices in alignment with Magnet principles and academic learning environments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Precept nursing students and new graduate nurses.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience required.
    • Prior experience in multiple specialty areas strongly preferred (e.g., trauma, neuro, cardiac, surgical, or telemetry).
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current Louisiana RN license (or eligibility for licensure).
    • Current BLS
    • ACLS required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialty certification(s) in areas such as CCRN, TCRN, or Stroke Nursing (NIHSS) encouraged.
  • Previous Float Pool or travel nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated success in working across multiple clinical settings.
