Education & Training
Develop and implement orientation programs for staff caring for transplant and CAR T patients.
Provide initial and ongoing education related to:
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
CAR T-cell therapy processes
Conditioning regimens
Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS)
ICANS neurotoxicity monitoring
GVHD recognition and management
Infection prevention in immunocompromised patients
Maintain standardized education curricula across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Coordinate annual competency validation for cellular therapy staff.
FACT Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance
Support compliance with FACT standards related to education and staff competency.
Maintain documentation of staff training and competency records.
Participate in FACT readiness preparation and site inspections.
Assist with development and updates of policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure education aligns with REMS and manufacturer requirements for CAR T therapies.
Clinical Practice Support
Serve as a clinical resource for bedside staff managing complex transplant or CAR T complications.
Provide just-in-time education during new therapy implementation.
Support nursing adherence to clinical pathways and evidence-based practices.
Collaborate with pharmacy, quality, and medical leadership on protocol education.
Program Development & Quality Improvement
Participate in Quality Management Program initiatives.
Identify knowledge gaps and implement targeted education plans.
Assist in reducing practice variation through standardized education.
Contribute to performance improvement initiatives related to patient safety and outcomes.
Staff Development & Professional Growth
Mentor new nurses transitioning into cellular therapy roles.
Support specialty certification preparation (e.g., OCN®, BMTCN®).
Promote continuing education and professional development opportunities.
Facilitate interdisciplinary simulation training when appropriate.
