Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus1701 S Creasy Ln Lafayette, Indiana 47905The Non-RN Lactation Consultant provides competent and comprehensive consultation and education in lactation for the parents, both in the Franciscan healthcare system and in the community. This position helps educate, care, and advocate for breastfeeding families, both in and out of the hospital, and relay progress reports to the RN.

Required High School Diploma/GED 2 years Women's Health Services Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - American Heart Association
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - The American Academy of Pediatrics
Lactation Consultant (LACT) - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Formulate an accurate feeding plan, while considering cultural, environmental, psychosocial and economic factors and values.
- Maintain the established safety, environmental and infection control standards, and take appropriate corrective action for identified infractions.
- Provide competent and comprehensive consultation and education in lactation for the parents, both in the hospital and in the community.
- Validate and document patient understanding related to the teaching and counseling provided.
