Job Description

Staff Nurse –( IV Unit) Permanent / Part- Time 24 Hours per Week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse (IV Unit) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.

Job Purpose:

Staff nurses (IV Unit) are responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care to patients, the application of the nursing process and the scientific knowledge, judgement and technical skills of professional nursing in delivering care to patient in the IV Unit.

Ideal Candidate:

Ability to work as part of a team providing a quality service

Personally, and professionally accountable for patient care

RGN qualification and NMBI registration

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Flexible approach to work patterns as the post holder will be required to rotate between days.

Essential Qualifications:

Be Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept

Have nursing experience post-registration preferably in acute medical.

Experience & Responsibility:

Carries out nursing care and treatments to the highest possible standard according to agreed Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.

Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care based on the nursing process approach and maintains appropriate records.  Implements discharge planning based on patient care needs

Administer medicines, IV drugs, blood/blood products and controlled drugs according to agreed policies. Records and monitors patients post administration according to policy and reports any adverse events or medication errors

Adheres to Best Practice Guidelines in controlling infection and reports/manage infections as dictated by policy and work closely with Infection Control Nurse. Handles and correctly disposes of medical waste as per hospital policy
